Residential plumbing workshop

Water back where it belongs, the same week you call.

Basalt Lumen is a small licensed crew handling leaks, blocked drains, hot water and bathroom fit-outs. You get a written price before a single tool comes out of the van.

  • Licensed & insured
  • After-hours emergency cover
  • Written price, no surprises
  • 01

    Licensed and insured

Every job is carried out by a qualified plumber and gas-safe trained technician, fully insured for residential work.

  • 02

    Written price first

We diagnose, explain the options in plain language, then put the price in writing before anything is dismantled.

  • 03

    Same-week booking

Standard repairs are scheduled within the week, with an after-hours roster for burst pipes and no hot water.

  • 04

    We leave it clean

Drop sheets down, boot covers on, old parts and offcuts taken away. The room looks like we were never there.

What we fix

Six jobs that make up most of our week

If your problem is on this list, we carry the parts for it. If it is not, describe it in the form and we will tell you honestly whether it is ours to solve.

Emergency leaks & bursts

Isolation first, then a proper repair rather than a patch. We trace the source, cut back to sound pipe and reinstate the run.

  • Burst pipe
  • Ceiling leak
  • Isolation

Blocked drains

Sinks, showers, toilets and stormwater. Cleared mechanically, then camera-checked so you know whether roots or grease will bring it back.

  • Jetting
  • Camera check
  • Root cuts

Hot water systems

No hot water, lukewarm water or a weeping tank. We service and repair existing units and replace them like-for-like or with a better match.

  • Repair
  • Replace
  • Thermostats

Tapware & fixtures

Dripping mixers, loose spouts, running cisterns and tired shower roses swapped for quality fittings that match your existing set.

  • Mixers
  • Cisterns
  • Shower sets

Bathroom & laundry fit-outs

Rough-in through to fit-off, coordinated around your tiler and electrician so the trades are not tripping over each other.

  • Rough-in
  • Fit-off
  • Waterproof prep

Pipe repair & re-piping

Failing galvanised runs, noisy pipes and low pressure. We stage replacements room by room so the house keeps working while we do it.

Our work method

A small crew, an unhurried diagnosis

Basalt Lumen runs as a two-van workshop, which means the plumber who quotes your job is the one who turns up to do it. Nothing gets handed down a chain, and nothing gets guessed at.

  • Isolate the water first so the damage stops before the conversation starts.
  • Find the actual cause, not the nearest wet patch, before quoting.
  • Explain the repair and the alternative in plain language, including the option of doing nothing yet.
  • Use serviceable, widely stocked parts so the next repair is never a hunt.

What happens next

Three steps from enquiry to dry floor

No call centre, no chasing. Here is exactly what follows once your details reach the workshop.

Step one

You describe the job

Send the form with your suburb, the type of job and whatever detail you have. Photos help, but plain words are plenty.

Step two

We confirm and price

A plumber replies with a booking window and either a fixed price or the inspection needed to set one. You approve before we start.

Step three

We fix and tidy

The repair is completed, tested under pressure, and the site is cleaned down. You get a written record of what was done.

Recent work

Two jobs from the last run of bookings

Finish matters as much as function. These are typical of the fit-out work the crew takes on between repair calls.

A finished bathroom with a wall-hung basin, timber vanity and matte black tapware
Full bathroom fit-out

Wall-hung basin, re-run waste

The old waste sat too low for a wall-hung basin, so the run was re-pitched inside the wall before fit-off. Mixer and in-wall cistern were set to the tiler's finished levels.

Mixer swap with pressure balance

Two dripping pillar taps replaced with a single mixer. Isolation valves were added under the basin so the next service needs no mains shutdown.

Before you book

Questions we are asked every week

Do you take after-hours emergencies?

Yes. A plumber carries the emergency roster outside normal hours for bursts, major leaks and total loss of hot water. After-hours attendance is priced differently, and we tell you that rate before we are dispatched.

How is the price worked out?

Wherever the job can be scoped on sight, we quote a fixed price for the whole repair rather than charging by the hour. Where something is hidden in a wall or underground, we price the inspection first, then the repair once the cause is known.

Do you supply parts, or should I buy them?

We supply quality, widely stocked fittings as standard, and they carry the manufacturer's warranty. If you have already bought a fixture you love, bring it out when we quote and we will tell you whether it will work with your existing rough-in.

What do you need from me on the day?

Clear access to the work area and to the water meter or stop tap, and somewhere to park within reach of the job. If pets are about, let us know in the form so we can keep gates and doors managed properly.

Can you work on a rental property?

Yes, for owners, managers and tenants alike. We just need written approval from whoever is paying before work begins, and we are happy to report findings to the owner or manager directly.

Tell us what is leaking, blocked or cold

Send the detail once and a plumber will come back with a booking window and a price. Enquiries are read by the crew, not a call centre.

What to expect in the reply

A named plumber, the earliest two booking windows we have, and either a fixed price or the cost of the inspection needed to set one. Nothing starts until you say yes in writing.

We use your details only to answer this enquiry and book the work.
